House of India Update

Posted By on Thu, Jul 26, 2007 at 10:46 AM

Three weeks ago I reported that House of India (8501 Delmar Boulevard) had closed temporarily due to a kitchen fire. It remains closed; a large white banner announcing its renovations now hangs above the entrance. When I called (314-567-6850) today to ask whether there's a date for reopening, a recorded message said the restaurant should reopen in mid-August.

If you're jonesing for Indian food today, here are two Indian restaurants I've reviewed since the beginning of the year: Flavor of India at Olive and I-270 and Indian Food at Olive and I-170. And don't forget that you can search our restaurant listings for other recommended Indian restaurants.

UPDATE: Mere minutes after posting this, I saw House of India's ad in the hard copy of this week's RFT. The ad says the restaurant will reopen at the end of August. I'll keep you posted.
