Posted By on Thu, Aug 9, 2007 at 7:50 AM

Our story so far: Yesterday we learned that one million pounds of Chinese seafood on the FDA's "import alert" list made it to U.S. consumers.

Today, reaction to the news, including strong words from Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.): "Apparently, the 'import alert' system used by the FDA to test high-risk foods cannot be trusted." (AP)

ConAgra will return Peter Pan peanut butter to stores this month. In case you forgot, Peter Pan peanut butter was pulled from shelves in February because of salmonella contamination. (AP)

Finally, a follow-up to last week's story about Archers of Loaf/Crooked Fingers frontman Eric Bachmann's new career selling Cuban sandwiches on the streets of Denver: For the time being, at least, Bachmann has ended his street-vendor career.
