Eating Local: Another Perspective

Posted By on Mon, Aug 20, 2007 at 11:25 AM

A follow-up to today's Morning Brew post about eating locally:

Commenter Bill Burge pointed me to this editorial from the International Herald Tribune. Writer James E. McWilliams -- who considers himself a supporter of the "food miles" or "locavore" or "eat local" movement -- discusses a recent study by scientists in New Zealand that found that food produced locally may not necessarily leave a smaller carbon footprint than food shipped from elsewhere on the planet. Definitely worth a read.
