No, Not That Smoke: Pappy's Smokehouse Attracts Willie Nelson's Attention

Posted By on Wed, Sep 23, 2009 at 11:15 AM

Midtown barbecue mecca Pappy's Smokehouse (3106 Olive Street; website) has attracted a lot of (deserved) attention since it opened early last year. But it might -- might -- gain its coolest visitor yet when Farm Aid rolls into St. Louis on Sunday, October 4: Willie Nelson.

Owner Mike Emerson sent me a note yesterday with a link to Nelson's website, where the Red-Headed Stranger can be seen holding the t-shirt Pappy's is selling to benefit Farm Aid. As you can see in the picture below, Nelson might have a certain affinity for the tie-dyed shirt with the Pappy's logo and the words, "Yeah Dude...We Smoke" emblazoned above it.

The text of Nelson's post:
I just got word that Pappy's Smokehouse in St. Louis, MO will be donating the proceeds of a t-shirt to Farm Aid. If you are in the St. Louis area stop in, eat some award winning BBQ, purchase a t-shirt for a great cause and thank them for their help. I know I will be stopping in while I am in St. Louis!
Will Nelson stop by next weekend? I'm sure we'll find out. Until then, visit Pappy's to pick up a t-shirt of your own and support Farm Aid.
