As you might have noticed, our coffee column, Java Enabled, is taking a break, but author Zach Dyer was kind enough to send along word of an upcoming competition in which you can show off your skills at latte art. You know, drawing a leaf or some such in the foam atop a latte or other coffee drink.

Thursday Night Throwdown will be held at Foam Coffee & Beer (3359 South Jefferson Avenue; website) on Thursday, February 11, at 8 p.m. It will cost $5 to enter the competition; the top three latte artists will win prizes. Of course, you can go just to watch. Or maybe request specific works of art from the contestants.
