Illinois Farmers Get a PR Makeover

llinois farmers are getting a public relations makeover, thanks to the effects of Food Inc. and King Corn. The Associated Press reports that a campaign funded by the Illinois Beef Association, Illinois Corn Marketing Board, and Illinois Soybean Association was announced at the Illinois State Fair as farmers struggle to find their place in the small vs. corporate agriculture worlds.

Melt no more! Kraft's researching heat-proof chocolate wrappers to prevent melting. According to the Telegraph, the packaging can protect single-serve chocolate bars from temperature fluctuations up to 104 degrees.

Springdale, Utah, bans chain restaurants. USA Today finds that the folks who invested to open a Subway in the town aren't pleased, even though they knew of the ban before they contracted with the sandwich franchise. The shop sits empty because the investors were sure the ban would be found unconstitutional, despite similar bans in other picturesque towns.
