Prime 1000, the steakhouse from restaurateur and chef Claus Schmitz of Mosaic, is slated to open on Friday, November 5, according to a video report on the CW 11 (KPLR). Prime 1000 is located at 1000 Washington Avenue, the former home of Kitchen K and across the street from Mosaic.

The menu includes certified prime steaks as well as Missouri grassfed and American wagyu beef. Steak prices range from $22 for a wagyu skirt steak to $58 for a dry-aged, prime T-bone and $75 for a dry-aged, prime porterhouse (meant for two).

As you might expect, the rest of the menu is upscale, with appetizers that include a duo of foie gras and duck rillettes, sweetbreads with a truffle emulsion and even osetra caviar.

For reservations or more information, visit the Prime 1000 website or call 314-241-1000. Good luck with the phone number. It has been busy every time I've called to confirm the Friday opening.
