Making its way around the food blogosphere today is news of a record-setting auction price for a bluefin tuna in Japan: approximately $400,000. The AP report below, via Eater, showcases the beast.

The price tag should answer any question as to why the bluefin tuna is on the brink of being wiped out -- and raises the distressing question of how much someone will pay for the last one.
