Openings once again outpaced closings this month, but you'll pardon us if we dwell for a moment on those closings. This has been one of the most spectacular months for restaurant closings that Gut Check has ever seen.

You had the abrupt shuttering of Root after three weeks, the closing of the four remaining locations of the pioneering Casa Gallardo chain, the loss of Gut Check favorite Mammer Jammer and a restaurant shuttered (presumably for good) by an alleged arson.

Oh, and Monarch will close in two weeks.

The complete list is after the jump. As always, let us know in the comments what we might have missed.
