As Gut Check first learned last month, Bud Starr will indeed serve food again at his namesake wine shop Starrs (1135 South Big Bend Boulevard, Richmond Heights; 314-781-2345).

In a brief phone conversation this afternoon, Starr stressed that he doesn't really consider this a "restaurant," per se, but an extension of the shop, with diners encouraged to purchase wine from the store for dinner. (There is no corkage fee on bottles over $30.)

There is a brief menu, prepared by Starr himself. The initial menu includes beef tenderloin, halibut, smoked pheasant and thin and deep-dish pizza.

Dinner at the new not-restaurant Starrs restaurant is by reservation only.
