A fire early Wednesday morning gutted Yummies Soul Food Cafe (2800 Olive Street; 314-226-9800). The restaurant relocated to this address, on the first floor of the Heritage House apartment building, only last month from its original space at 3149 Shenandoah Avenue in the Compton Heights neighborhood. According to Fox 2 (KTVI), firefighters were able to contain the blaze within fifteen minutes.

Owner Jacqueline Phillips tells Gut Check this morning that the restaurant will reopen.

"We're planning to reopen as soon as the insurance company does what they need to do," she says.

"Our goal is to find some temporary building we can cook in. The customers are still requesting Yummies! We've got people calling and asking if they can come to our house for dinner."

We'll let you know about Yummies' reopening as soon as we learn it.
