New Activity in Old Lafayette Fire Company No. 1 Space

At the end of September, Lafayette Fire Company No. 1 closed the doors of its location at 1801 Park Avenue in Lafayette Square, ostensibly to move to 3518 Hampton Avenue.

After some initial work on the Hampton space, formerly the home Da Baldo's Trattoria, the Lafayette Fire crew appears to have gone silent.

The phone number, which as recently as last week was connected and rang through to a recorded message (from a woman calling herself Captain Awesome, no less) about the move, is now "temporarily" disconnected.

We're working to learn more about that situation. (Though you can probably draw some conclusions on your own.) In the meantime, life in Lafayette Square marches on.

Paper is now up in the windows of 1801 Park, and a recent visit to the address revealed the sounds of construction. A peek in a gap in the aforementioned paper revealed that serious renovations are underway.

We've heard reliable rumblings about what, exactly, will be taking over the space, but we haven't been able to confirm anything as of yet. That said, a restaurant and bar with a more sophisticated (one might even say more European) bent than the previous tenant is a good bet.

More (dum dum DUM) as we learn it.
