Catching up on a couple of openings around town...

- Piccolino's Italian Grocer, Wine Merchant and Deli is now open at 10 Church Street in Ferguson. Actually, Piccolino's opened in December of last year -- we even included it in our final reckoning of 2012's openings and closings, thanks to a reader tip -- but a press release announcing the opening went out last week.

As its name suggests, Piccolino's stocks wine, Italian-cuisine staples (olive oil, gelato, cheeses) and its own house blend of coffee roasted by Starrs (1135 South Big Bend Boulevard, Richmond Heights; 314-781-2345). The deli menu includes meatball, salsiccia and muffuletta sandwiches.

Piccolino's is open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. 3 p.m. Saturday. For more info, call 314-942-2255 or visit the Piccolino's website.

- Ligaya Figueras of Sauce spotted a new restaurant in the city's Benton Park West neighborhood: The Choice is now open at 3265 South Jefferson Avenue. The restaurant features Southern-style cuisine available from either a buffet or an à la carte menu.
