Mad Hatter Pub Crawl Celebrates Crazy Hats and Booze

Posted By on Fri, Mar 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM

In Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter drank tea. In St. Louis, Mad Hatters drink booze.

On Saturday, March 30, Fuel, a local social volunteer group, is hosting its annual Mad Hatter's Pub Crawl. Drinkers and revelers will travel by bus (and two ferries) across St. Louis and into Illinois boozing and wearing crazy hats. 'Cause why not?

The pub crawl starts at Pat's Bar and Grill (6400 Oakland Avenue; 314-647-6553) in Dogtown at 10:30 a.m. and includes breakfast. After eating, the Mad Hatters will take a bus to Golden Eagle, Illinois, then to Grafton and, finally, to Alton before returning to Pat's by 7 p.m. Presumably the bus will stop at a bar or two in each town visited, but the Facebook event page also encourages people to BYOB.

Oh yeah, and crazy hats are a must. Like, you probably won't be allowed to board the party bus without a crazy hat. Prizes will be awarded in several crazy-hat categories.

Tickets are $42 until March 25. After that date, prices will go up to $47 per person. Fuel asks that you RSVP on the event's Facebook page, then mail them a check for the ticket price. They also recommend you get your tickets as soon as possible, as the event does sell out. Of course, you must also be 21 to attend.

In case you want to go but have no idea what kind of hat to wear, here are some suggestions:
