Not quite one year after a fire destroyed the apartment building in which J. Gumbo's had opened its first St. Louis-area location, the fast-casual Cajun-Creole restaurant has returned with a new home downtown. J. Gumbo's debuted yesterday at 312 North Tenth Street. The restaurant's regular hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. Its phone number is 314-696-2500. The St. Louis location also has its own Facebook page.

J. Gumbo's now boasts locations in ten states, including Missouri. That's up from six states when Gut Check first learned a year ago about the chain's imminent arrival in St. Louis. An aficionado of Cajun and Creole cuisines might point out that Louisiana is not one of the ten states in which J. Gumbo's is located.

The J. Gumbo's menu mixes classic Cajun and Creole dishes (gumbo, jambalaya, po' boys) with such contemporary trends as wraps.
