If you're in St. Charles today, we suggest you head over to 3150 Elm Point Industrial and get in line at the new Sugarfire Smokehouse (3150 Elm Point Industrial, St. Charles; 636-724-7601). Mike Johnson's excellent barbecue joint opened its second location today, April 25, at 11 a.m.

Back in December, Johnson told us he was shooting for a mid-February opening. The location is actually a former Chuck-A-Burger, so the interior is pretty "crazy," he told us.

"This is the ultimate spot that I can go crazy with the design," Johnson said. "[The building] is kind of a '50s curbside drive up, so it'll have more of a '50s kind of a vibe and be a lot funkier."

The menu is pretty much the same as the original Olivette location, with room for several rotating specials per day. Johnson is a co-owner along with his chef Dave Molina and Charlie and Carolyn Downs. The St. Charles location is open daily from 11 a.m. to whenever they sell out. Keep an eye out for an upcoming location in O'Fallon, too.
