Now Open: Racanelli's in the Loop, Cantina Laredo, Strange Trap Kitchen

There are some tidbits to share as we approach the end of the month. A few places popped up, and it's worth noting that, as we reported earlier this week, two of three Lester's sports bars have closed this month.

Racanelli's has returned to its origins: The Delmar Loop is where John Racanelli opened up his very first restaurant about twenty years ago; he also owns Market Pub House. The U. City location, at 6314 Delmar Boulevard, has the usual menu, delivery and catering.

Cantina Laredo, a new upscale Mexican restaurant, opened this week in Clayton at Centene Plaza. It has a Mexico City-style menu with everything from fresh guacamole made table-side to carne asada. The Dallas-based chain serves lunch and dinner. Look out for a grand-opening celebration next week.

On the heels of its Kirkwood opening, Strange Donuts has debuted the Strange Trap Kitchen inside Brennan's in the Central West End. Co-owner Corey Smale told us in October it would be a place to experiment and improve on the doughnuts. "That space will allow us to -- or force us to -- elevate a little bit more, because it's such a nice space," he said. "We're going to have the opportunity to elevate the product even more, and it gives Mary [Boehne] and Strange itself an opportunity to do research and try out new flavors and perfect the ones we're already doing."
