Flying Rolls Sushi Closing Today

It's not going to be a happy new year for fans of Flying Rolls (3674 Forest Park Avenue; 314-898-0008). In an email to staff sent on Tuesday night, co-owner David Culver announced that today is the restaurant's last day of service.

The restaurant, which opened a mere six months ago, is located in midtown directly across from Saint Louis University's campus. The fast-casual concept aimed for high-quality sushi made fast -- a step up from grocery-store takeout.

Gut Check reached out to Culver for comment and will update as more information becomes available.

In an interview with Gut Check last March, Culver likened Flying Rolls' fast-casual concept as the Chipotle of sushi, giving diners the option to build their own bowls and sushi rolls from a variety of ingredients and watch them made fresh right before their eyes.
