The line that sometimes stretches around the Fort Taco (8106 Manchester Road, Brentwood; 314-647-2391) drive-through can seem intimidating. Once word of this delicious fast food restaurant spread, its popularity has increased to the point of mayhem (Taco Tuesdays are an especially crowded event). For the uninitiated, it may seem like a hassle for some casual Mexican fare, but Fort Taco is more than worth the wait.

Don't hesitate at the intercom -- order the "Traditional Soft Shell Taco and Enchilada Meal," and keep the line moving. This hearty combination platter consists of one of Fort Taco's huge soft tacos -- a fluffy, fried-to-order pouf that's overstuffed with seasoned beef or chicken, lettuce, tomatoes and shredded cheese. It's a meal unto itself, but one easily finds room for the accompanying enchilada. This flour tortilla, glazed with ancho-chile sauce and filled with peas, potatoes, cheese and a choice of beef or chicken is so good, you'll devour it before leaving the parking lot -- and question whether or not you should get back in line for round two.
