This month was full of good stuff on the food front. Union Loafers is bringing fresh-baked bread and delicious sandwiches to Botanical Heights, joining with Ben Poremba's Olio, Elaia and Old Standard Fried Chicken to create one of the city's most exciting dining districts. Edibles & Essentials, a new market/cafe, opened in St. Louis Hills, providing an excellent option for grab-n-go as well as dining in. And Retreat Gastropub, a stylish new contender, opened its doors in the Central West End.

What closed? South Grand mainstay Absolutli Goosed, for one, but it's already been replaced by Brickyard Tavern. Joe Buck's and J. Buck's also shut their doors in downtown St. Louis and Clayton, respectively.
