Bar Les Freres (7637 Wydown) the gloriously sexy, red-walled boite in Clayton, has long been insiders' go-to spot for wining and dining prospective partners. It's impossible not to fall in love within this low-lit French restaurant. (See our review here.)

Now it's not just the St. Louis area singing its praises. In a roundup that selected one top romantic spot for each state, Elle Decor recently named Bar Les Freres the most romantic restaurant in Missouri.

The three-year-old restaurant from Zoë Robinson Pidgeon and chef Ny Vongsaly is located in a former shoe repair shop, which should give hope to all those utilitarian buildings out there — yes, you too can be this pretty!

As the magazine concluded, "If you're looking for romance, you can never go wrong with French. From the red walls, to the giant draped windows, to the collection of antlers behind the bar, it feels opulent, to say the least. Tip: You have to start with the Gruyere cheese soufflé!"

Now, if you're thinking about trying to get a reservation for Valentine's Day to impress your sweetie, well, get in line. But there is hope: We hear that Bar Les Freres' sister restaurant, I Fratellini, is exceptionally good-looking as well. We just doubled your odds of getting a table, so, you're welcome?
