We already knew that Ted Drewes is the best. Now the rest of the world knows it, too.

SoolNua, a meetings and events company based in Dublin, Ireland, counted up 30,000 votes from all over the world to determine the top spot for its second annual #worldICECREAMindex. After battling it out against Koun Gelato of Bratislava, Slovakia, during the final weeks of voting, the one and only Ted Drewes won the honor as the world's best ice cream.

“SoolNua's #worldICECREAMindex celebrates and recognises the central role that ice cream plays in defining a destination and highlighting its authenticity and originality," SoolNua managing partner Patrick Delaney said in a press release announcing Ted Drewes' big win today. "We're thrilled to see that it has captured the imagination of destinations as far apart as Vancouver and Istanbul."

More than twenty ice cream shops from thirteen different countries participated in the contest. Koun Gelato took second place, while Lake Lounge at the Grand Hotel Toplice in Lake Bled, Slovenia, placed third. You can see the entire list of rankings on the SoolNua website

“With so many great ice cream shops and destinations from around the world
participating in this fun (and delicious) competition, it is truly an honour for Ted Drewes, St. Louis and the U.S. to be recognized as the winners of the 2016 #worldICECREAMindex," Explore St. Louis president Kitty Ratcliffe said. "Ted Drewes is an institution in our city and has been serving up amazing frozen treats for visitors and residents along Route 66 for generations. We want to give a special thank you to all the Ted Drewes' fans who voted for them and helped secure this very sweet and special recognition."

Now if you'll excuse us, we think this is the perfect excuse to go get some of that award-winning ice cream. It's time to celebrate.
