One of the city's newest brewers will be bringing new life — and a tasting room — to an industrial site in the Grove.

Rockwell Beer Company announced this morning that it has signed a lease for 1320 Vandeventer, which was most recently the home of Dinzler Equipment, a supplier of construction equipment. The site is just one block from the heart of the district, near the intersection of Kentucky Avenue and just one block south of Manchester.

The brewing company is the brainchild of Andy Hille, a veteran of Perennial Artisan Ales. Hille announced in August that he'd be leaving the Perennial to open his own fifteen-barrel brewhouse. He says now he hopes to be open by spring.

V Three Studios will serve as the project architect, Hille announced, with plans for a 1,500-square-foot tasting room, an outdoor patio, a retail shop and on-site parking (which is increasingly becoming an important amenity in the bustling Grove).

“We couldn’t be more excited to announce our intention to move forward with this as the permanent location for Rockwell," Hille said in a release. “It’s taken a lot of hard work and planning to get to this point, but we’re very enthusiastic for the opportunities that this spot provides us. We have the ability to repurpose an existing building, tell its unique history, and add our own distinctive twist for a one-of-a-kind experience for every person who comes to visit us.”

Rockwell also says it will be hosting a weekly pop-up (sorry, "nano tasting room experience") at the TechArtista co-working space in the Central West End beginning October 5. The weekly events will be held every Wednesday evening. See rockwellbeer.com for more info.
