Dear Brennan's, You Just Might Be Our La La Land

Posted By on Thu, Mar 2, 2017 at 7:20 AM

Brennan's, that wonderfully cheeky whiskey-filled home away from home, recently had a little fun with Warren Beatty's orgasm-induced brain cramp at the Academy Awards. A sign posted on one wall claims that if the Central West End bar doesn't win the RFT's Best Bar this year, "someone misread the envelope." A good chortling was had by all.

Yet if this isn't cocky, what is? Your memory might be short, but we happen to recall that eight years ago Brennan's invited a representative from the RFT to debate a staffer from Alive to determine which publication was better. Nobody from Alive was willing to take on the RFT's silver-tongued Chad Garrison, so owner Kevin Brennan stepped in to debate as Alive's proxy. In a remarkable twist worthy of M. Night Shyamalan, Brennan's referee gave the win to his boss ... who'd resorted to arguing the Alive staff was better looking. (Say wha?)

So yes, Brennan's, you are a mortal lock to win this year's Best Bar category. Just don't be surprised when we hand the award to the Hideaway.
