  • The Ben & Jerry's on the Delmar Loop will soon be full of hungry (and cheap) ice cream enthusiasts.

Stop everything. Today is the best day of the year at Ben & Jerry's.

The ice cream company's Delmar Loop location (6380 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-721-8887) is participating in the national chain's Free Cone Day. From noon to 8 p.m., Ben & Jerry's is giving away free ice cream as a thank you for customers' support — a tradition the company has kept since 1979, according to the event's Facebook invite. All you have to do to get a free cone is stop by.

Now, you'll likely encounter a line on this beautiful day, but you can kill time by channeling your inner tech-addicted millennial by skimming some very important reading material on Ben and Jerry's website. Learn about the "7 People You Meet on Free Cone Day" and "10 Reasons Why Free Cone Day is the Best Holiday Ever," or take a quiz to see which ice cream flavor you should choose on Free Cone Day.

Let the indulging commence.
