Juniper Is Moving to a New Home in 2018

Juniper (360 N. Boyle Avenue) plans to say goodbye to its home in the Central West End — but neighborhood diners shouldn't start crying just yet.

The restaurant is moving just three blocks away.



Chef John Perkins, who first opened the Southern-inspired favorite in 2013, announced today he will be moving to 4101 Laclede, a five-story mixed-use building set to open next year at Laclede and Sarah Street. The project includes both condos and street-level retails.

Juniper will remain open in its current digs until the new place is ready, Perkins said in a press release. He vowed to close for only a few weeks — and promised benefits that will make the move worth it.

"With the new location, guests can expect familiar aesthetics, but with a brighter interior considering the development’s floor-to-ceiling windows," the press release notes. "With the relocation will also come the addition of lunch, Monday through Saturday, weekend brunch, as well as a late-night menu to be offered on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays only."

At 3,200 square feet, the new space can handle 100 guests, with a bar area large enough to seat 32 — a big expansion from what's currently on offer. Two outdoor patios will offer seating for 32 additional guests, with a private dining room offering room for parties as big as 22 people.

"I believed it was in the best long-term interest of Juniper to relocate to a location with more visibility, enhanced seating, and greater population density,” says Perkins. “The new location at 4101 Laclede satisfied all these requirements and more. I am very fond of our current location because this is where it all started, but in order for Juniper to truly thrive and grow, a new location was vital.

"I am not only thrilled by this opportunity, but also excited to be a part of the restaurant community along N. Sarah St., and to be situated there with three other great restaurants: Scottish Arms, Retreat and The Block.”

And as for those vintage refrigerator doors behind the bar? Not to worry, Perkins says: They're coming too.
