Water Street Cafe Will Close at Month's End

Posted By on Tue, Jan 23, 2018 at 2:39 PM

Water Street Cafe (7268 Manchester Road, Maplewood) will be saying goodbye after dinner service on January 30.

The Maplewood restaurant, which has won numerous admirers during its seven year run, announced on Facebook this afternoon that it was preparing for its final weeks.

As we begin this new year, we do so with a spirit of gratitude for what’s past, and excitement for what’s to come. We have had the privilege of being part of the Maplewood community for nearly 7 years, but feel the time is right for us to end our run as Water Street, and start the next chapter in our lives. We cannot express enough appreciation to our loyal and supportive customers who have become part of our family. Please come celebrate with us before we close our doors for good on Tuesday, January 30th. Much love, Water Street ❤️
Sibling duo Gabe and Maria Kveton opened the spot in 2011 and earned praise for their vintage cocktails, straightforward cuisine and stylish atmosphere. Gabe Kveton had previously been the bartender at I Fratellini; Maria Kveton, who served as chef, had never worked in a restaurant before.

As the RFT's Ian Froeb wrote in his original review, "There's something charming about the division of Water Street between brother and sister, bar and kitchen, cocktails as alchemical as the 'Widow's Kiss' and cuisine as simple as a cucumber." More recently, Water Street made our list of the ten most romantic restaurants in town. Maybe get that last visit in now before it's too late.
