Le Placard (R) Francis Veber. This funny, trenchant satire, directed by Francis Veber, takes a look at political correctness in the corporate world. François Pignon, a bland sort of man who works as an accountant in a condom factory, is about to be fired. His new neighbor comes up with an idea to prevent such a thing from happening: He spreads the rumor that Pignon gay so that the factory management might be afraid they'll be sued for sexual discrimination. Of course, nothing happens as it should, but the changes in Pignon's life -- and other people's too -- is drastic. Horns and Halos (unrated) Michael Galinsky and Suki Hawley. The tagline for the sloppy-but-intriguing documentary Horns and Halos could well read, "Can convicted felon J.H. Hatfield overcome his shady past and shoddy journalistic research to produce a worthy biographical indictment of George W. Bush, especially Bush 's alleged 1972 cocaine use? And can entrepreneurial publisher Sander Hicks, head of the underground publishing entity Soft Skull Press, champion and reintroduce Hatfield's book Favorite Son -- two years after St. Martin's Press withdrew it in October 1999?" Conscientious analysis demands more depth on every business hurdle (including law suits) and on the personal errors and egos engendering each. Though guilty of the same superficial coverage Hatfield employs, filmmakers Hawley and Galinsky nevertheless capture the raw emotions of a twisting and unpredictably tortuous story that, as Hatfield says in the opening shots, is a real nightmare.
