With ambitious plans including a double LP and book release, Last in the American League (or LITAL, for short) hopes to not only become a reality, but to be a defining snapshot of a blooming St. Louis creative scene.

The idea of LITAL is fairly simple: pair eighteen local musicians with eighteen visual artists to gain a snapshot of the current state of the St. Louis music and art communities. According to the project's recently launched Kickstarter campaign, "We are creating a product that will commemorate these blossoming communities for those who are involved in the St. Louis arts scene and introduce it to those not yet familiar."

RFT Music's Allison Babka covered LITAL's efforts last summer, when it was at the start of the project.

"St. Louis has a very rich and extensive art and music history that often has gone under-recognized through the years, and right now is a very exciting time in that history," LITAL's mastermind Chuck Crittenden told us then. "There is so much tremendous talent and passion on display here, and we want to find a way to freeze this moment in time, to capture the St. Louis art and music communities in a time capsule."

The complication will deliver exclusive songs from a veritable who's-who of St. Louis' music scene:

With the Kickstarter campaign under way, Crittenden hopes that the local community will see the vision and successfully fund the $6,000 project. As of press time, there are nineteen days to go, and LITAL has raised more than $1,100.

Last in the American League will be hosting a fundraiser at the Tick Tock Tavern Monday, February 23, at 8 p.m. For more details, check out its Facebook event page.
