Linus once said: "There are three things I have learned never to discuss with people: religion, politics and the Great Pumpkin." Sure, it's two weeks before Halloween, but it's never too early to set aside debate and begin your wait for the Great One. So kick off the season with a sinister selection of music as BandTogether (a GLBTA community band) presents "The Haunting" on Saturday, October 14, at 8 p.m. at the Washington University Music Auditorium (560 Trinity Avenue, University City; 314-863-3033). The festive concert will feature selections from Ghosts, Wicked and Orpheus in the Underworld. Free.

Diminishing return: "Father of Geometry" Euclid was known for his passion for number theory. So should it come as any surprise that Euclid Records is unveiling its Web site for a second time? The Euclidrecords.com Re-launch Party goes down on Thursday, October 12, at 8 p.m. at Blueberry Hill's Duck Room (6504 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-727-4444). Featured bands include the Hard Lessons (up-and-coming synthesizer-driven soul-pop out of Detroit), the Rugs (garage rock from Springfield) and Finn's Motel (local power-pop throwbacks). Visit www.euclidrecords.com or the actual store (601 East Lockwood Avenue, Webster Groves; 877-938-2543) for tickets. Be there or be square.

Stop me if you've heard this one: A Morocco-via-U.S. musician and a St. Louis rocker come together to promote cross-cultural awareness. The former says, "Hey, I'm a master of Moroccan devotional music performed for healing ceremonies." The latter says, "Hey, I'm just here to show that Hebrew can still rock!" And the joke is on anybody who doesn't go to the Faces of Love Concert on Thursday, October 12, at 8 p.m. at the Sheldon Concert Hall (3648 Washington Boulevard; 314-533-9900; www.sheldonconcerthall.org). This year's concert features Hassan Hakmoun, who will share the stage with the area's own Rick Recht. Tickets are $27 to $47.
