Beatle Bob: Grammy Winner?

The 2011 Grammy Nominees were released in December. In the category of Best Spoken Word Album for Children, one of the five nominees was Healthy Food For Thought: Good Enough To Eat. A to Z readers might recall that this was a double-CD release on which Beatle Bob appeared, contributing a spoken-word bit called "Down at Big Greens." Other artists on the project, which encourages kids to eat well, include Moby and Julian Lennon.

Bob was on Fox 2 News yesterday morning talking about the album and the nomination (you can view video here). So this begs the question: If Healthy Food wins its category, does that mean Beatle Bob himself won a Grammy?

Well, kind of.

I called up the Recording Academy -- the governing body of the Grammys -- and they clarified that if the album does win, Beatle Bob wouldn't get the familiar gold Grammy statuette. Instead, he would get a certificate that verified he was a participant in a Grammy-winning project. (For reference, here's what one of these babies looks like.)

Grammy winners will be announced on February 13.
