On her blog, Wormwood Scrubs vocalist and keyboardist Larissa Rook lists her occupation as survivor. That's in addition to being a musician, farmer, fiber artist, children's book author and photographer.
Right now, she's forced to focus on the survivor gig. Since 2002, Rook has battled breast cancer and basal cell carcinoma. Now, she's dealing with mysterious pulmonary problems, which have led to a lot of medical bills.
To help, Off Broadway owners Steve Pohlman and Kit Kellison have donated the club for a benefit tonight to help with Rook's medical expenses. The Sparkle Rainbow Sunshine Jamboree: A Benefit for Larissa Dalle begins at 7 p.m.
The lineup includes Fattback, The Red Headed Strangers, Peck of Dirt, Theodore, Magic City, James Weber Jr., The Felons, Tenement Ruth, Bunnygrunt, Jesse Irwin and Suzie Cue.
The organizers are suggesting a $10 donation at the door. Bring extra cash to buy raffle tickets.
