Better Than Ezra

When I look back at my first mayoral term, three accomplishments stick out in my mind: 1) using corporate tax breaks to prevent Ted Drewes from up and moving to Omaha, 2) propping out Better Than Ezra in the introduction to "Mike Seely's Guide to the Final Four" in the RFT [March 30] and 3) rocking out to Better Than Ezra on Final Four Sunday.

The day went a little like this: Around mid-morning, Mike McMillan, Richard Callow and I got our sip on at T.G.I. Friday's. Shoot, we even camped out on the sidewalk so we could order that really cool blue drink they serve before anyone else did. That's the sort of Ezralites we are, brobrecito! We hit the grass in front of the stage and took our shirts off. When the boys opened with "King of New Orleans," the licks were so hot it was like they were licking my chest. Which was a good thing, because the unseasonably warm sun made my chest hairs hella hot to begin with. Still, when Better Than Ezra returns to St. Louis this weekend, odds are I will keep my shirt on, because my aides tell me that the Pageant lacks a retractable roof. If I run for a third term, funding a retractable roof for the Pageant will be mayoral priority number one, because, as you all know, I'm the guy who revitalized the Delmar Loop.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $22.50-$24.50; call 314-726-6161 or visit www.thepageant.com for more information.
