Black Moth Super Rainbow is as close to experiencing LSD as you can get without dosing your orange juice. The Pennsylvanian collective crafts woozy, unmistakable canticles shrouded in oozing analog layers, vocoded vocals and chewed-up existential bass that slithers into your subconscious like those freaky sand worms in Beetlejuice. While its song and album titles juxtapose childlike wonder at the organic (Dandelion Gum, "Sun Lips") with spiritual reverence for psychedelic rites, its music is fittingly undercut by the same nihilistic heaviness that invades every good trip. Swiftly after issuing the Extra Flavor EP earlier this year, Tobacco, Father Hummingbird, the Seven Fields of Aphelion et al. released a 40-second taste of their new album — aptly christened Psychic Love Damage — which sounds folkier, new wave-ier and more cosmic than ever; so much so that we may need chemical assistance to digest the real thing.

Last Time: Back in May, BMSR frontman Tobacco's solo project made the bass worship of dubstep look like kiddie stuff with his performance at Off Broadway.
