A new upscale lounge and restaurant is coming to the area of Delmar just east of the Loop.
Blue Ultra Lounge (5917 Delmar Boulevard) plans to open Wednesday, November 23, in the spot that
previously held the Office. That concept closed its doors quietly last month after a four-year run, and while its sign is still up, other renovations are already nearly completed, says Cornell Boone.
Boone is the manager of Blue Ultra Lounge. He says the new owners — his wife Jamilah Boone and Arthur Chikeluba — plan to offer a full kitchen, with sliders, wraps, sandwiches and other offerings, as well as a full bar. DJs or live music will be on offer most days.
"We want to bring a cool environment to fit what's going on in the area," he says.
Indeed, the area just east of the Loop, which sits along the trolley track, has seen an influx of new development, with high-end apartments and the new Delmar Hall joining the Pageant, Pi and other pioneers. Blue Ultra hopes to push that revitalization even further east, past the Metro Link station — and if the storefronts nearby are any indication, it won't be alone in that. Many appear to be undergoing a sprucing up or on their way to landing new businesses.
Beginning next week, Blue Ultra Lounge will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., with happy hour specials on offer most days. See
its website for more detail.
