New Orleans is probably the only city where it's supremely cool to be a trombone player — look at the rise of native son Trombone Shorty and the continued success of party-starter Big Sam and his Funky Nation for proof. But Bonerama has been putting the 'bone — and the easy dick jokes that come with the name — at the forefront since 1998. Mark Mullins and Craig Klein founded the group while on breaks from Harry Connick Jr.'s big band. In the past fifteen years, Bonerama has acted as a bridge between the city's jazz and rock scenes as well as serving as a go-to horn section equally versed in second-line shuffles and classic rock breakdowns.
Pre-Mardi Party: Before the festivities of Mardi Gras overwhelm you, take a moment to enjoy the authentic New Orleans sound of these Crescent City hornblowers.
