Literate bovines, take comfort: Despite its alarming name, Cattle Decapitation means you no harm. In fact, this all-vegetarian, San Diego metal band sympathizes with your plight, closing its 2004 album Humanure with a harrowing ten-minute track composed almost entirely of slaughterhouse field recordings. Human readers, however, should fear Cattle Decapitation's guillotine. With the recent release Karma.Bloody .Karma, the group intensifies its anti-people campaign by calling for the cessation of "bipedal mammalian hierarchy." Self-loathing lyrics suggest the members of Cattle Decapitation don't hold themselves exempt from "voluntary human extinction," but their missionaries-of-death devotion tour dates are booked until late October makes group-guided mass suicide unlikely at this early juncture.
