Deschutes Brewery and the Craft Chameleon are hosting a Cards Against Humanity tournament June 23.
Deschutes Brewery and the Crafty Chameleon (1384 Clarkson Clayton Center, Ellisville) are hosting a Cards Against Humanity tournament next Thursday, June 23, and you're invited to come out and horrify everyone around you with your despicable matches in exchange for prizes.
The card game tasks players with amusing their friends (and horrifying the easily offended) by matching cards with different people, places, vulgar statements and objects on them in an effort to create the most repulsive or hilarious combination.
“I’d wanted to do this event for quite a while, 'cause it just sounds like a blast. Beers and Cards Against Humanity — that's what everyone does in their basement anyway. So why not do it in a bar and get 50 people to play?” says James Stutsman, the Missouri and Kansas representative for Oregon-based Deschutes Brewery.
The Crafty Chameleon seemed like the perfect place to test out the idea, he says.
“I was looking for a place that would fit, because you have to have the right people to attend and the right bar owner ... because it's Cards Against Humanity and it's a game for horrible people,” Stutsman jokes.
Stutsman says he originally saw a similar tournament being done in Kansas City and thought it would work in the St. Louis area.
The event will be hosted from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Crafty Chameleon. Deschutes Brewery will have five of its beers on tap for the tournament. Entry is free and prizes will include a Deschutes Brewery gift basket and a Crafty Chameleon gift card.
If you can’t make it to the first tournament, Stutsman says he and the Crafty Chameleon want to do it again in August for St. Louis Craft Beer Week.
