The ever-changing "D"-word featured in D. Yellow Swans' name could stand for "dreamy." Yes, really: Pete Swanson and Gabriel Mindel Saloman create their lush and ruptured soundscapes with the current tools of the trade (random electronic stuff, drum machines, computers, the appendix of a hermaphrodite robot), and despite being lumped into the "noise" category, the sounds they coax out of their tabletop set-up are almost always beautiful. The two have a solid grip on composition, working with an ear toward timbre and tone to create hypnotic waves of thermonuclear love — strong enough to burn a hole through the earth's crust all the way to China, lovely enough to kiss you on the cheek when you get there. Our town's own Raglani and Dave Stone perform on the bill with the D-something Yellow Swans; they're two fellas who know a little about the blasting and the bliss as well.
