If ever there was a show that was guaranteed to be the jam, Dubfire's upcoming gig is it. The other member of Deep Dish, this DJ (née Ali Shirazinia) is touring in support of his Global Underground Taipei double-disc mix, an album based on a recent set of his at a club in Taiwan's capital. The song selection for this compilation embraces that great-big-club sound and succeeds for the most part; only a couple of tracks have those typical, inescapable, dance-floor catchphrases (i.e. "Celebrate your life!"). In spots the release comes off like an updated Deep Dish effort (hooray!), but there's also a cool throwback element to Taipei. Dubfire's remixes of Depeche Mode ("Everything Counts") and Nitzer Ebb ("Control I'm Here") reveal some of his influences — which are bound to also make an appearance in a live set.
