On most Tuesday nights, Rue 13, arguably the lone hipster hangout on Washington Avenue, resembles an auto dealership on Sundays -- only the few souls milling about with nothing better to do are drinking $1 PBRs.
But this should change tomorrow (Tuesday, August 26) when touring bands the Failure's Union (an early '90s-influenced indie rock group featuring Jason Draper, bassist of Lemuria, the Buffalo trio which will be back in town October 23) and Tenement (fuzzed-out pop punk in the vein of Dinosaur Jr.).
And if that wasn't fun enough...
The Humanoids will be playing an all covers-set -- and we have a few teasers for you. A few bands to be covered are: Minor Threat, Dag Nasty, Descendents, Black Flag, Screeching Weasel, Leatherface, among others. (This writer thinks a cover of "Smash the Discos" by the Business would be a shrewd cover song choice, but likely a bad idea.) Last but certainly not least, the Livers are also playing.
The show starts at 8 p.m. and is free -- but it's strongly suggested you bring some cash to support the touring bands, either by buying merch or simply by passing the hat. The show's 21-and-up.
