St. Louis' Illphonics, long-time stalwarts of the local hip-hop scene, announced through a YouTube video this week that the group has signed a deal with Kansas City's Record Machine label, well-known for organizing KC's annual Middle of the Map Fest. Illphonics will join fellow STLians Palace, also on the roster.

The move for the five-piece has been a long time coming -- Illphonics has self-released and self-produced every album and EP it has dropped up to this point, including the latest, Live: Unplugged, which was recorded at the Kranzberg Performing Arts Center in late 2014.The new partnership will see the band experiencing some increased visibility and an extra promotional push. Illphonics is currently working on its next album, Gone with the Trends, to be released later this year.
"The possibilities are endless with the Record Machine; they have great energy," says frontman Larry "Fallout" Morris. "They really believe in us as artists, and we believe in their ability to help grow and strengthen the Illphonics brand."
