Incubus Guitarist Mike Einziger Heads to Harvard

Harvard's list of famous musical alumni is rather impressive. Grads include Bonnie Raitt, Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads, Tom Morello, Dean Wareham (Luna/Galaxie 500), Jacob Schlichter (Semisonic), Damon & Naomi (of Galaxie 500) and, most notably, Weezer's Rivers Cuomo.

Well, as of this semester, add Mike Einziger to the list. The Incubus guitarist is, in his own words, a "a special student through the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, so I’m studying for a year. That’s what’s great about that specific program, that it offers the flexibility."

(Harvard Crimson)

He did an interview with the Harvard Crimson about his year of study -- and seems like quite a cool dude. This is my favorite:

HC: Are you thinking of putting on any shows here for the undergrads? Yardfest, maybe?

Mike E.: I’m not opposed to it—we’ll just have to play it by ear. The point of coming here was sort of to get away from all of that for a while, but you never know. I think whomever they get for Yardfest this year, they should clear it through me. [Laughs] No more Third Eye Blinds are allowed. [Ed. note: 3EB played a show last year, to the chagrin of some students.] Not OK, very not OK. Read the rest of the article here.
