Isaac is Headed for St. Louis: The Big Muddy Blues Festival and Del Yeah! Delay and Relocation Info

Hurricane Isaac has done its share of damage to the Gulf, and we hope our friends in New Orleans are alright after widespread flooding and ongoing power outages. Still, the destruction was nothing like that of Katrina, and after ominous predictions that is cause for celebration.

And this weekend, Isaac will make its way to St. Louis. By then it will be a Tropical Storm (or Depression?), but either way, we are likely headed for a very, very wet weekend. As luck would have it, there are two fairly major outdoor festivals taking place: The Del Yeah! Festival at the Old Rock House and the Big Muddy Blues Festival downtown. Both have put contingency plans in place.

Del Yeah! was supposed to take place on stages inside the venue and out in its parking lot area. Instead, the indoor lineup will be expanded -- acts will be announced soon -- and the outdoor portion will be rescheduled for October 5. Tickets were offered to one or the other or as a combo; if you have an outdoor or combo ticket, it will be honored on next month. If you can't make it then, refunds are available.

The Big Muddy Blues Festival, which draws some 60,000 people to downtown St. Louis, is a much larger logistical concern. And rather than push back the shows, the Festival plans to push everything into venues on Laclede's landing. In the event of prohibitive rain, the main stage acts, which include Dr. John, Joe Louis Walker and the Royal Southern Brotherhood, will be in Heartbreakers Rock & Roll Saloon. Those who purchased tickets ahead of time will have priority access to the venue -- the rest will be first come, first served.

All the festival's other acts would be pushed into "a variety of venues" throughout Laclede's Landing and there will be no cover charge.

Could be a bit of a hectic weekend, but we could certainly use the rain and the shows will go on. The Big Muddy may live up to its name this year, but in our opinion that will just make it more fun. Hope you own an umbrella and some boots.
