Here is your weekend, last-minute, O NOES reminder about submitting mixes for our 2007 DJ spin-off. The deadline is THIS MONDAY! OMG!
I need these mixes in hand by 6 p.m. on Monday. Submissions can be dropped off on the second floor of the RFT building at 6358 Delmar Boulevard, anytime between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Or you can take your chances and mail them on Saturday to the RFT (that address is 6358 Delmar Boulevard, Suite 200; St. Louis, MO 63130), but any mix that wants to be considered must be in my possession by the end of the day Monday.
Calling all techno-geeks, electro-freaks, house-heads, trance-dorks and whatever other clever genre-noun combination you want to employ: The RFT is again holding its annual competition to find one DJ in town who will be flown to Miami to represent for St. Louis at the Ultra Music Festival, which takes place this year on March 23 and 24. (Adrian Fox was the city's representative last year; see "Music Sounds Better With You," March 8, 2006, for how things shook out.)To get everyone pumped, here's a vintage Pet Shop Boys video from 1987. Look at that lip-syncing job. Fabulous. Happy weekend!Like last year, to enter the contest please send me a mix of music — any length, although one CD will more than suffice — that shows off your beat-matching skills, individual style and personal flair. Finalists will be notified by Monday, February 19, and there will be a final DJ spin-off to determine the winner on Thursday, March 1, at the Atomic Cowboy; further details will be announced later. Feel free to send this blog entry to appropriate parties. E-mail me with any questions.
