Arch Rival Rollergirls benefit

Arch Rival Rollergirls benefit at the Way Out Club, 2525 South Jefferson Avenue. Doors open at 9 p.m. Friday, January 20. Tickets are $7; call 314 -664-7638 for more information

Hey, man: Kneepads, fishnets and emergency dental work don't come cheap — especially when the Arch Rival Rollergirls, St. Louis' burgeoning all-female roller-derby squad, are also trying to save up for team T-shirts, rental-space fees and (presumably) a few future postings of bail. The ARRGs' first public-demonstration bout won't be until February, but before they can gear up to throw down, they're bringing a whole new meaning to the phrase "rock & roll" with a fundraising show featuring the sultry dance-rock of That's My Daughter, the southside metal anarchy of Mothra's Mutha and the Vultures' unique brand of ass-shakin' garage-surf.
