When the weather turns sweltering, this writer's preferred tune choices lean toward summery new-wave pop or bubblegum-punk blasts as played by the Ramones or Replacements. The latter bands influence St. Louis' own Sex Robots, who just returned from a lengthy West Coast/Midwest tour in support of their new, self-titled album. Ten fun, fantastic songs bursting with whoa-oh-oh's, skidding ragged-punk riffs and fist-pumping choruses but more importantly, boundless energy and a lack of pretension mean that the trio's homecoming gig/CD release show with That's My Daughter should be a blast.
