The power-pop sextet Magic Kids first stirred up blog hype with the single "Hey Boy." The short, sugary-sweet song and its harmonizing vocals sounded like they were recorded in California in the '60s. The band's subsequent debut LP, Memphis, is also concerned with place: It's a poppy, youthful, wide-eyed homage to the town in which the band grew up playing music and going to shows. The Kids have been touring heavily — this will be its second St. Louis stop in less than three months — and people seem to be taking note; comparisons to the Beach Boys and Big Star are rampant. Funky, electro-garage-pop artist Bosco Delrey will also perform.
