You could be forgiven for forgetting about matt pond PA, the reticent band that stylizes its name in the lowercase. Throughout thirteen years of recording, the quasi-chamber pop ensemble has released some nine albums and nearly as many EPs with barely a murmur of buzz. Matt Pond and his band make music that doesn't wear animal suits and jump up and down. It just sounds good, particularly on this year's
Emblems. It stands as proof that Pond can be as deliciously tuneful as Ron Sexsmith or Conor Oberst, especially when refracting vintage electronics and baroque strings through the polished prism of his elegant melodies.
In the News: At the start of his current 50-date tour, Pond broke his tibia and fibula. Ask him to sign a record after the show, and he may ask you to sign his cast.
