This may come as a shock to some of you, but the United States economy is in a bit of a free fall right now. And while that has ramifications far and wide, our collective belt-tightening has put the pinch on many nonprofit institutions. One such bastion of local culture is community radio station KDHX (88.1 FM), and as always, the station wants to offer you something for your monetary support. Case in point: Midwest Mayhem, KDHX's annual concert, provides patrons with some of St. Louis' finest live, local music in the urban playground known as the City Museum. This year's lineup is particularly banjo-heavy, featuring the country feedback of Theodore, the breakneck folk-punk of the Monads and the mighty fine bluegrass pickin' of the Grass Pack, along with performances by the Funky Butt Brass Band, the Blind Eyes and Fred Friction.
